RISING STAR AWARD FOR BEST YASOPRS PRESENTATION

The Spring Rising Star Award was initially presented at the Spring 2018 Meeting. Each year, it is awarded to the best YASOPRS presentation(s) at the Spring Meeting and will be in honor of the highest ASOPRS Foundation Donor from the previous year.

Rising Star Award 2024

2024   Kelsey Roelofs, MD, for her presentation, “Cranial Neuropathies Arising from Perineural Spread of Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Multi-Centered Series and Review of the Literature.”
This 2024 Spring Rising Star Award was named in honor of John B. Holds, MD, one of the highest donors to the ASOPRS Foundation in 2023.

2024   Sruti Akella, MD, for her presentation, “Effect of Prior Botulinum Toxin A Treatment on Persistence and Recurrence of Hemifacial Spasm following Microvascular Decompression Surgery.”
This 2024 Spring Rising Star Award was named in honor of Craig Czyz DO, FACOS, FACS, one of the highest donors to the ASOPRS Foundation in 2023.

2023   Shanlee Stevens, MD, for her presentation, “Fluorescent Marker for Identification of Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma Cells.”
This 2023 Spring Rising Star Award was named in honor of Dale Meyer, MD, the highest donor to the ASOPRS Foundation in 2022.

2022   Katherine WIlliams, MD, for her presentation, “SARS-CoV2 and Orbital Cellulitis in the Pediatric Population.”
This 2022 Spring Rising Star Award was named in honor of Guy Massry, MD, FACS, one of the highest donors to the ASOPRS Foundation in 2021.

2022   Pimkwan Jaru-ampornpan, MD, for her presentation, “Options for One-Stage Reconstruction of a Large Upper Eyelid Margin Defect”
This 2022 Spring Rising Star Award was named in honor of Richard K. Dortzbach, MD, FACS, one of the highest donors to the ASOPRS Foundation in 2021.

2020   Robert Beaulieu, MD, for his presentation, “The Impact of Social Media, Internet Searches, and a Practice’s Website on an Oculoplastics Practice: Economic Patterns of Self-Referred Patients.”
The 2020 Spring Rising Star Award was named in honor of Richard P. Carroll, MD, the highest donor to the ASOPRS Foundation in 2019.

2019   Emily Charlson, MD, for her outstanding talk, “Oncologic and Functional Outcomes of Orbital Exenteration versus Globe-Salvaging Therapy for Orbital Squamous Cell Carcinoma.”
The 2019 Spring Rising Star Award was named in honor of Roger A. Dailey, MD, the highest donor to the ASOPRS Foundation in in 2018.

2018   Nicholas Mahoney, MD, was the 2018 recipient for his presentation at the YASOPRS Rapid Fire Case Presentations, “Trends and Variance in Coding and Case Logging by ASOPRS Fellows.”
The 2018 Spring Rising Star Award was named in honor of Edwin C. Augustat, MD, the highest donor to the ASOPRS Foundation in 2017.
